The mouth also gives lots of information about the health of your dog’s circulatory system as long as you know how to perform the Capillary Refill Test. This is very easy to do. When you are holding your dogs upper lip up you should be able to see nice pink, moist gums. Use your thumb to push firmly on to the gum and you should be able to cause it to white (blanching) . Now release your thumb and count how long it takes for the gum to return to pink. 1-2 seconds is normal. If it is significantly slower than this then your dog could have a serious problem and you should get him/her checked out by a vet.
